Omos has effectively been benched by WWE.
The former Raw Tag Team Champion was recalled by WWE from his brief run in Pro Wrestling NOAH, but Omos has yet to resurface on WWE TV. The 'Nigerian Giant' isn't dealing with an injury, however, and Fightful Select has reported that Omos is ready to work and perform. Omos simply hasn't been brought up in creative discussions.
Omos hasn't wrestled for WWE since working the 2024 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal one year ago. He hasn't wrestled a televised WWE match that wasn't a battle royal since a loss to Seth Rollins at Backlash 2023, almost two years ago.
Omos had a run in Pro Wrestling NOAH earlier this year, winning the GHC Tag Team Titles in his debut with Jack Morris. Omos won all of his matches in NOAH and was presented as a monster, pinning the promotion's ace Kaito Kiyomiya in his final match on January 25. Omos announced following the match, though, that he was relinquishing the GHC Tag Team Title and returning to WWE.
Omos impressed fans during his NOAH stint and WWE were reportedly impressed by the giant, according to Fightful. A NOAH contact also noted to Fightful that Omos made a good impression, and they assume the promotion would be happy to bring him back in the future.
Omos effectively being benched by WWE comes amidst comments from WWE President Nick Khan that WWE doesn't sign and bench people.
After Bill Simmons suggested during an interview with Khan that WWE shouldn't sign too many wrestlers, Khan stated:
"That's something we won't do. We won't sign and bench people. We sign people who we want to use. If another entity signs and benches people now, that's not something we would do."
