WWE Breaks Record With SummerSlam Ticket Sales

A big day of ticket sales for WWE SummerSlam

The 2023 edition of SummerSlam is already bringing in big money for WWE.

Sports Business Journal revealed that over 32,000 tickets for SummerSlam have already been sold, which SBJ claimed was the "largest day-one sale for any stadium event outside of #WrestleMania in company history."

That isn't entirely correct, however. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer noted that SummerSlam 2023 did generate the biggest day-one ticket sales for a non-WrestleMania stadium show in the United States. It was only the third-biggest worldwide, however, with 2022's Clash at the Castle and 1992's SummerSlam beating out SummerSlam 2023.

Clash at the Castle was held in Cardiff, Wales in September 2022, while SummerSlam 1992 was held at London's Wembley Stadium.

SummerSlam 2023 continues what has been a big year for WWE. Along with the company's sale to Endeavor and upcoming merger with UFC, WrestleMania 39 was the highest-grossing and most successful event in the organisation's history.

SummerSlam will take place at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday, August 5.
