WWE, Chelsea Green In Trademark Battle Over Her Name

Green was released from WWE in April

WWE and Chelsea Green are currently in dispute over the trademarking of Green's name, despite it being her given name.

Last year, WWE filed a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for Chelsea Green's name. In November of 2020, Green signed a consent form, allowing them the use of her name.

Green was released from this past April, and went on to appear for both Impact Wrestling and Ring of Honor after the expiration of her non-compete clause.

In June, Green filed her own trademark on her real name. However, on August 5 (per Heel By Nature), WWE countered her claim by providing evidence of the document Green signed last November, indicating that they control the trademark.

Green took to Twitter to write, "I never thought I’d be in a legal battle for my BIRTH GIVEN name…"

Green also wrote that she'll discuss the matter on her Green With Envy podcast dropping tomorrow.

Green signed with WWE in August of 2018. She was called up to the Smackdown brand in November of 2020, before getting sidelined with a wrist injury. She was released with nine other WWE talents this past April.
