WWE Clash Of Champions 2020 Results
And Still...
Sep 28, 2020
At Clash Of Champions, the titleholders proved themselves to be dominant in WWE.
Only one championship changed hands during the pay-per-view when Sami Zayn captured the Intercontinental Title in the opening contest. The Underdog From The Underground had to work hard for the win, but he outthought his opponents and handcuffed them to ladders. This allowed him to climb a ladder unopposed and retrieve the titles to prove he is the undisputed champion.
Much of the drama heading into the pay-per-view centred around the two world title matches, however. In what can be described as a shock result, Randy Orton received his comeuppance once again as The Big Show, Christian and Shawn Michaels returned to attack him, and Drew McIntyre forced him to leave the ThunderDome in an ambulance after connecting with a Claymore and Punt Kick. Where The Viper goes from here remains to be seen.
Following Orton's defeat, Roman Reigns defended the Universal Championship against Jey Uso. The former tag team champion put up a valiant effort against The Big Dog but Reigns was prepared to destroy his family to retain the title, which he did. After Spearing Uso, Roman refused to pin his cousin and demanded he be addressed as The Tribal Chief. Jey constantly refused which led to beating after beating until Jimmy Uso made his way to the ring and threw in the towel for his brother.
Elsewhere on the show, Asuka retained the Raw Women's Championship against Zelina Vega. Their feud looks set to continue, though, as Zelina attacked The Empress Of Tomorrow after the bell. This wasn't Asuka's only match at Clash Of Champions as she faced off against Bayley in an unadvertised match for the SmackDown Women's Title. The bout ended in a DQ, however, and the main talking point involved the return of Sasha Banks, who beat down The Role Model with a kendo stick.
Earlier on, the Raw Tag Team Championship match ended in controversial circumstances after the official called for the bell despite Andrade kicking out at two. Why the bout ended so suddenly hasn't been officially addressed but it appeared the referee rushed to the finish after Angel Garza suffered an injury. Bobby Lashley also retained the US Title against Apollo Crews and on the Kickoff show, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Lucha House Party.
