WWE Confirm This Week's Episode Of SmackDown Has Not Been Cancelled

The show will be broadcast as scheduled...

Last night, Mike Johnson at PWInsider reported WWE had made the decision to cancel this week's episode of Friday Night SmackDown at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, and it would instead be broadcast from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

This came after the NBA announced they had suspended their season until further notice and numerous games of football and American football are set to be played behind closed doors this weekend. Japanese professional wrestling promotions have also cancelled all shows until the end of March.

Soon after Johnson's report, WWE released a statement which confirmed SmackDown would be broadcast from Detroit as planned, but they are putting contingency plans in place for upcoming shows. Ryan Satin at Pro Wrestling Sheet reported one of these plans was to air events from the WWE Performance Center.

WWE wrote: "WWE has not cancelled Friday Night SmackDown in Detroit, however, based on the current situation, we are putting contingency plans in place in the event that upcoming WWE shows are cancelled by government officials, civil authorities and/or local venues."
