WWE Expected To Book Main Roster Name On NXT To Counter AEW Grand Slam France

Over the course of AEW’s existence, the promotion has gone head-to-head with WWE on numerous occasions. Whether it be the “Wednesday Night Wars” between Dynamite & NXT, WWE’s counter-programming attempts against AEW’s PPVs, or WWE stacking particular events with big names in an effort to try and take eyes away from Tony Khan’s product, there has been a rich history of rivalry already. 

After it emerged that WWE Worlds Collide was booked in Chicago in order to counter the ticket sales of AEW All Out 2026, it looks as though WWE are making their next attempt to negatively impact the opposition. Next month, AEW is heading to Paris, France for the first time ever for a special “Grand Slam: France” edition of AEW Dynamite - though the show is set to take place on Tuesday… opposite WWE’s NXT. According to a report from Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline, WWE is making plans to counter AEW. 

He notes that it is “presumed NXT will have at least one big main roster name when it goes head-to-head with Tuesday Dynamite”. This would not be the first time WWE has loaded NXT, with previously the promotion booking the likes of CM Punk, The Rock, and The Undertaker on the developmental brand in instances where they went head-to-head with Dynamite. It was also noted by Alvarez that Worlds Collide will not be the last instance of WWE countering AEW with house shows.
