WWE Files To Trademark 'Queens Crown Tournament'

No Queen Of The Ring?

The name of WWE's upcoming women's tournament has seemingly been revealed.

It emerged earlier this year that WWE would be holding a Queen Of The Ring-style tournament in October, with plans in motion to begin the tourney on the October 8 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Matches will then take place over the next two weeks before the Queen Of The Ring final in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, October 21.

While many assumed the tournament would simply be called 'Queen Of The Ring', similar to the King Of The Ring, WWE filed to trademark 'Queens Crown Tournament' for "entertainment services" on August 27, which suggests the new contest won't reference the old men's tournament.

Why WWE decided to file for 'Queens Crown Tournament' is currently unknown, but an "entertainment services" trademark for 'Queen Of The Ring' from 2016 remains in use by the Queen Of The Ring women's battle rap league. The battle raps regularly take place on YouTube and the league's channel has 248,000 subscribers.
