WWE files to trademark multiple ECW shows

WWE have moved to retain the rights to several Extreme Championship Wrestling events, including CyberSlam, Barely Legal, and Massacre on 34th Street.

The company filed to trademark the three terms on August 11 for entertainment purposes.

The full filing for Massacre on 34th Street states:

"IC 041. US 100 101 107. G & S: Entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information."

WWE has held the rights to ECW events since Vince McMahon bought the promotion in 2001. NXT has revived old WCW pay-per-views in recent years, including Halloween Havoc and Great American Bash. The company has the option to do the same with old ECW shows.
