This week's Friday Night SmackDown will be taped in Manchester, England (with next week's Raw taped immediately afterwards) and there's a chance a face we haven't seen for some time could return.

Dave Meltzer recently spoke on

Wrestling Observer Radio

and recalls being told that SmackDown's Elias will be back in action by the end of October. And since it's now November, of course, Meltzer believes The Drifter will be back in action sooner rather than later: “I remember being told that Elias would be back by the end of October, we have already passed that, so I would say any day now probably.”

Elias wrestled his last televised WWE match on the September 3 edition of SmackDown Live where he defeated Ali in the King Of The Ring tournament. The former NXT star had defeated Kevin Owens in the first round thanks to a helping hand from Shane McMahon.

Former 24/7 Champion Elias was forced to withdraw from the KOTR tournament ahead of his semi-final match with Chad Gable through injury.

Reports then surfaced suggesting Elias had some form of ankle injury.
