After leaving WWE, Jesse "The Body" Ventura carved out a successful career for himself in politics. He served as Mayor of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota from 1991 to 1995, and was later elected Governor of Minnesota in 1998. He went on to serve as governor until 2003.
Since his stint in electoral politics ended, Ventura has repeatedly teased that he will run for President of the United States. Now, The Body is indeed planning to run for president as he tweeted that he was "going to test the waters" for a presidential run. He said he has not filed any paperwork as of yet, but he has sent a letter of interest to The Green Party in the hopes of receiving their nomination.
Ventura tweeted: "OK, I've decided I'm going to test the waters. IF I were going to run for president, the GREEN party would be my first choice. I've endorsed the party and I'm testing the waters."
He later added: "To be clear: I haven't filed anything. I authorized a letter of interest that was sent on my behalf to the Greens and I'm testing the waters for Green Party nomination. I'm an independent. I'm not a Democrat or a Republican because I know they're not the solution."
This creates an unusual conflict of interest for fellow WWE Hall Of Famer President Donald Trump. Back at WrestleMania 20, Ventura interviewed The Donald and asked if he could expect Trump's support if he re-entered politics. The former host of The Apprentice said: "100 percent."
