WWE King Of The Ring, Queens Crown Tournaments Begin On 10/8 SmackDown

Two tournaments kicking off next week

WWE will begin their King of the Ring and Queen's Crown tournaments on next Friday's episode of SmackDown.

WWE confirmed that they're holding two tournaments, announcing via commercial that both tournaments will begin on the October 8 SmackDown, and resume on the October 11 episode of Monday Night Raw.

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast reported back in July that both tournaments were in the works for October. Zarian also stated that the final round of both tournaments would take place at Crown Jewel on October 21, but WWE has yet to confirm that detail.

The King of the Ring tournament dates back to 1985, when it was a summertime house show attraction for the New England market. The event became a standalone June pay-per-view in 1993, running through 2002. Since then, King of the Ring has been used infrequently, with the last such tournament occurring in 2019, which was won by Baron Corbin.

This will be the first ever Queen's Crown tournament in WWE history. No word on participants for either tournament, or how many entrants will take part in each.
