WWE NXT 2.0 Results - January 11 2022

Styles vs. Waller

A week removed from New Year’s Evil and WWE NXT produced its first show of the Bron Breakker era.

Breakker kicked off NXT by talking up former champion Tommaso Ciampa for passing him the torch, and vowed he’d spend every day getting better and taking on all challengers.

Breakker’s first challenger could be right in front of him, as Santos Escobar stared at the NXT Title on his way to the ring for his match with Xyon Quinn. Quinn threatened to run rings round Escobar, until Santos targeted Quinn’s limbs. Elektra Lopez eventually made her way down to ringside, with the winner of the bout leaving her. But she did not remain impartial, kicking Quinn in the privates, allowing Santos to capitalise and hit the Phantom Driver for the win.

Russo mania ran wild in the NXT Arena, as we had a Crowbar on a Pole match between Pete Dunne and Tony D’Angelo. Dunne wasted no time in trying to destroy D’Angelo’s hands, so D’Angelo couldn’t make a play for the crowbar. It was not enough though, as Tony hit Dunne with a huge Exploder Suplex, then got his hands on the crowbar, smashing ‘The Bruiserweight’s fingers and throat with the weapon. D’Angleo somehow fought back, and with the aid of a chair, the pole, and the crowbar, put Dunne away for the 1-2-3. Could this be the end of Pete Dunne in NXT?

And in NXT’s main event Grayson Waller went one-on-one with ‘The Phenomenal One’ AJ Styles. Despite talking a big game across WWE TV in the past few weeks, Grayson was completely outmatched and outclassed by the veteran Styles. Waller did get a few openings in the bout, but his cockiness and rookie mistakes prevented him from capitalising, with Styles fighting back and crushing Waller with a Phenomenal Forearm for the win.

Post-match, Styles told Waller his night wasn’t over, as LA Knight made his return to NXT seeking revenge after Waller took him out weeks ago. Knight and Styles embraced in the ring as the two former TNA World Champions took NXT off the air.
