WWE NXT Results - September 7, 2021

One more show before the relaunch

With NXT's rebrand only one week away, the black and gold brand had one final taped show to air before the Tuesday night series resumes live tapings from a refurbished Capitol Wrestling Center next week.

Both of NXT's tag team championships were on the line on the show as Io Shirai & Zoey Stark defended the women's belts against Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter, while MSK put their gold on the line against former champions Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan.

The Women's Tag Team Championship match was the first title bout on the show and the match was largely dominated by Io Shirai's refusal to tag in her partner. Stark managed to get into the match at intervals with cold tags and Shirai was eventually forced to work with her partner after Catanzaro and Carter wore The Genius Of The Sky down. Once they were on the same page, the champions picked up the win after eight minutes following a Moonsault from Shirai.

Shirai and Stark had no time to celebrate their win, though, as they were suddenly attacked from behind after the match by Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin as a masked Mandy Rose watched on.

MSK and Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan then faced off in the main event and the champions retained their championship after 12-minutes with their Hart Attack-Blockbuster finisher. The most eventful moment was saved for after the match, however, as Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland made their way to the ring and laid out Burch and Lorcan as NXT went off the air, disbanding their faction in the process.

NXT also continued the build to In-Dex's wedding and their bachelor and bachelorette parties aired during NXT. While Indi Hartwell's hen do was largely a disaster due to her lack of friends, Dexter Lumis' had a fun time with future father in law Johnny Gargano, Odyssey Jones, Drake Maverick, the zombie referee and former rival Cameron Grimes, who bankrolled the whole day and the upcoming wedding.

Gargano has been cold to Lumis for months but Johnny Wrestling warmed to his future son in law throughout the day following go-karting, axe throwing and laser quest, which led to Gargano finally high-fiving The Tortured Artist, much to Hartwell and Candice LeRae's delight. Gargano then gave his blessing ahead of next week's wedding and The Way walked off as one big happy family.

Two big matches were also set for next week's edition of NXT and William Regal announced Samoa Joe's first challenger for the NXT Title will be determined on September 14 in a Fatal 4-Way between Kyle O'Reilly, Pete Dunne, LA Knight and Tommaso Ciampa. Franky Monet will also challenge Raquel Gonzalez for the NXT Women's Championship.

Elsewhere on the show, Kay Lee Ray impressed in her win over Ember Moon, Mei Ying dominated Virginia Ferry in her in-ring debut, The Creed Brothers defeated two local competitors in their debut and Santos Escobar earned a victory over Carmelo Hayes.
