Rhea Ripley could be set to vacate the WWE Women's Championship due to her current injury.

Ripley has been out of action since early June, having suffered a slight meniscus tear during WWE's European tour. Ripley's last televised match was a successful WWE Women's Title defence against Jade Cargill at Clash in Italy and she hasn't wrestled at all since a WWE house show in Lisbon, Portugal on June 3 where Ripley teamed with Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair against Fatal Influence.

Ripley announced on Thursday that she has now undergone surgery to repair the injury, noting that she will return to TV down the road. While Ripley has remained WWE Women's Champion throughout her current injury, that could be set to change as Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer has reported there have been "rumblings" that Ripley could end up vacating the belt. The expectation is more will be revealed about the situation on Friday's episode of SmackDown.

Should Ripley vacate the WWE Women's Championship, it would make Chelsea Green the official WWE Women's Champion. Green is currently the Interim WWE Women's Champion, having won the belt in a five-way Ladder Match at SummerSlam.
