WWE Preliminarily Planning To Run 2 Shows On 1 Day During WrestleMania 38 Weekend

If plans go ahead, the earlier event would reportedly begin at midday...

While stressing that the information is preliminary and could change as plans are set in stone, Mike Johnson of PWInsider has reported that WWE are planning to hold NXT Stand and Deliver on April 2 - the same day as night one of WrestleMania 38.

The existing plan would reportedly see the NXT event take place as a matinee show, running from midday to 3PM. There is no word on a proposed venue for Stand and Deliver.

If this plan stays the same as we approach WrestleMania weekend, it will surely be a bitter pill for NXT fans to swallow. The reaction to the brand's drastic change in direction has largely been a negative one, and presenting NXT as an afternoon attraction will surely not resonate well. In recent times, NXT's TakeOver specials on WrestleMania weekend were often among the most critically acclaimed wrestling shows of the year.

NXT's latest Network special (no longer traditionally branded as a 'TakeOver') was WarGames on December 5, 2021. No NXT show has been announced for this weekend, despite the Royal Rumble occurring on Saturday, and many previous NXT specials taking place on the same weekend as a "big four" pay per view.
