Damian Priest's first singles loss on Raw and more

As the build to the Royal Rumble continued, WWE headed to the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma for the January 17, 2022, edition of Monday Night Raw.

The show opened with a promo from Becky Lynch, who was quickly interrupted by her Royal Rumble opponent Doudrop and then Bianca Belair and Liv Morgan, who both declared for the Women's Royal Rumble.

This eventually led to a 'Can They Coexist?' tag team match and Lynch and Doudrop failed miserably, with the former Piper Niven breaking up her own partner's pin after the Raw Women's Champion laid out Liv Morgan with a Manhandle Slam. Doudrop then made the cover, forgetting she wasn't the legal woman, before she dragged Lynch to the corner, tagged herself in and decked Morgan with a Splash for the victory. Lynch's night then only got worse as her Royal Rumble opponent laid her out with a Banzai Drop following the match.

WWE also kept Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins busy on Monday Night Raw as they went one-on-one in the main event. The match ended in a DQ after 13 minutes, though, after Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander attacked Lashley. All this did was anger The All Mighty, however, and he laid out his former friends, putting Benjamin through the barricade with a Spear in the process.

Rollins simply watched on while the post-match attack took place but he ended Raw on the mat following a surprise Double Superkick from The Usos.

This wasn't Rollins' only involvement on Raw as he was the special guest on Kevin Owens' KO Show earlier in the night, in which Seth revealed he would bring the Universal Title back to Raw if he beats Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble, while Owens declared fo the Men's Rumble.

They were quickly interrupted by Damian Priest which led to the United States Champion's scheduled match against Owens. In somewhat of a shock, Priest suffered his first singles loss on the main roster, with Owens picking up the win after he faked a hamstring injury and caught a concerned Priest by surprise with a Stunner to score the 1-2-3.

The build to Beth Phoenix & Edge vs. The Miz & Maryse also continued on Raw as Maryse initially pleaded with The Glamazon to cancel the match, only for Phoenix to tell her to shut up. This soon led to a sneak attack from The Miz, which Edge prevented, but Phoenix was distracted in the process and Maryse decked the former NXT commentator with a brick to end the segment standing tall.

It was a night of celebration for Alpha Academy too as they held their graduation ceremony following their Raw Tag Team Title win last week. Gable began the segment by telling the fans not to boo education before he presented Otis with a diploma and gave him a big kiss.

The celebration was, as expected, interrupted by Riddle, who was in his own cap and gown, and after some back and forth comedy, Gable agreed to give RK-Bro a rematch for the Raw Tag Team Championship if Riddle could prove his mental aptitude in an Alpha Academy academic challenge, which left Otis looking extremely concerned.

This led to a promo from Riddle about hamsters which goaded Otis into chasing him up the ramp, leaving Gable all alone for an RKO from out of nowhere from Randy Orton.

Elsewhere on Raw, Austin Theory defeated Finn Balor clean after Vince McMahon threatened to horrifically mutilate the former EVOLVE Champion, Nikki ASH laid out Rhea Ripley before their scheduled match, Omos dismantled Reggie within 30 seconds, and The Street Profits and The Mysterios defeated The Dirty Dawgs, Apollo Crews and Commander Azeez. Alexa Bliss' therapy also continued and she repeatedly said 'Lilly' until the therapist angered her by saying 'imaginary.'

Check out the full results below:
