Government records obtained by Wrestlenomics have revealed that WWE received over $500,000 from the City of San Antonio for Royal Rumble 2023, including a $250,000 cash site fee. The total amount is believed to be $575,415.98 as this amount was submitted to the Texas Governor's office to be reimbursed.

WWE have looked to receive site fees for their major events in recent years and this has been seen as a growth opportunity for WWE and UFC. WWE received $500,000 from the local government to bring the 2024 Royal Rumble to the Tampa area, while Las Vegas will pay $5 million for WrestleMania 40. The Puerto Rico government forked out $1.5 million for Backlash 2023 and the Welsh government paid $2.8 million for Clash at the Castle 2022 in Cardiff.

Although how much WWE received from the City of San Antonio has been revealed, the lawsuit WWE filed against the Texas Attorney General's office earlier this year remains active.

Royal Rumble 2023 emanated from the Alamodome on January 28. Cody Rhodes and Rhea Ripley won their respective Rumble matches while Roman Reigns defeated Kevin Owens in the main event before Sami Zayn turned on The Bloodline, turning babyface in the process. Bray Wyatt also defeated LA Knight in a Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match and Bianca Belair successfully defended the Raw Women's Title against Alexa Bliss.
