WWE have released one of the talents that was a part of their Independent Developmental programme.
Within a promo vignette, Aaron Roberts announced on social media today that he had been released from his WWE ID contract by the company. After a voiceover described him as a failure, Roberts was shown sitting on a pile of defeated wrestlers before he declared that he was the "baddest motherf****r walking both sides of the Mississippi."
Roberts was one of the first talents signed to the WWE ID programme in November 2024, having cemented himself as a regular for Championship Wrestling in Memphis since he began performing in 2020.
Roberts only had three matches matches under the WWE ID umbrella, but he has wrestled for the likes of GCW, AAW, and WWN in 2025, in addition to his continued regular bookings for Championship Wrestling in Memphis.
WWE ID is designed to provide a pathway for wrestlers to join WWE and the scheme effectively gives the company the right of first refusal on signing prospects within the programme.
A number of pro wrestling schools are also affiliated with WWE ID, although Rikishi's Knokx Pro was dropped by WWE following the incident involving Raja Jackson which saw him punch Syko Stu 21 times.
