Report: WWE Releases Velveteen Dream

He hadn't appeared for the company since late 2020

WWE released Velveteen Dream on Thursday, as was first reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider. Fightful and Dave Meltzer have both corroborated the story.

WWE has not made public mention of Dream's release.

A report from Fightful Select claims that WWE official Canyon Ceman disclosed Dream's release in an internal e-mail that was sent late Thursday afternoon.

Dream has not wrestled since December of last year. He was reportedly backstage at the May 11 episode of WWE Raw.

Last spring, Dream was accused of sending indecent images to underage boys through social media. Dream denied the allegations. Last August, Triple H said of the allegations, "We looked into what was there and we didn’t find anything.".

From August through December, Dream wrestled eight matches in all for NXT. His last match came against Adam Cole at the "Very Gargano Christmas" episode of NXT on December 23.

Dream's release comes on the heels of WWE releasing eight different NXT personalities on Wednesday, including referee Drake Wuertz.

The Dream character debuted on NXT in 2017. In his time with the brand, Dream won the NXT North American title.
