WWE have renamed another NXT star following their main roster debut.

Io Shirai made her WWE return at today's SummerSlam pay-per-view, aligning with Bayley and Dakota Kai, who were making their own returns at the event. The three women confronted Bianca Belair following her successful defence of the Raw Women's Title against Becky Lynch but they retreated after Big-Time Becks stood alongside her SummerSlam opponent.

Shirai used her old titantron for her entrance but Raw commentator Corey Graves kept referring to Shirai as 'Sky' in what many initially assumed to simply be a mistake on the announcer's part.

That ultimately was not the case, though, and WWE.com have confirmed that Io Shirai is now known as IYO SKY.

Shirai's name change comes after a Vince McMahon decree earlier this year which stated talent could no longer use their real names, nor the names they have used before outside of the company. That ultimately includes Shirai, who has used the name since her pro wrestling debut back in 2007.

Shirai, now SKY has been away from WWE TV since NXT Stand & Deliver in April, with it being noted following the event that the former NXT Women's Champion had suffered an injury.
