WWE Reviving The Great American Bash For July 1 And July 8 Episodes Of NXT
Going head to head with Fyter Fest 2020...
Jun 25, 2020
On last week's episode of NXT, William Regal announced the NXT Championship and the North American Championship will be defended in a Winner Take All match on July 8. Last night, Keith Lee, Johnny Gargano and Finn Balor battled it out for the North American Title and The Limitless One proved himself to be a formidable champion as he pinned Balor with the Big Bang Catastrophe.
After the match, WWE announced The Great American Bash will be returning for the July 1 and July 8 editions of NXT. This coincides with All Elite Wrestling's next major event Fyter Fest 2020. Three more matches were also added to the card as Dexter Lumis and Roderick Strong will clash in a Strap match, Rhea Ripley will face Aliyah and Robert Stone in a Handicap match, and Tegan Nox, Mia Yim, Dakota Kai and Candice LeRae will battle it out for the right to be the number one contender for the NXT Women's Championship.
The Great American Bash has a long lineage in professional wrestling dating back to 1985. It was a major NWA and WCW pay-per-view until 2000 and hosted classic matches like Ric Flair vs. Terry Funk, Ric Flair vs. Sting, and Dean Malenko vs. Rey Mysterio. WWE revived the event from 2004 to 2008 but the last Great American Bash broadcast was back in 2012 for a special edition of SmackDown.
