WWE Signs Another Olympic Gold Medallist

The amateur wrestling standout has reported to the WWE PC

Following the acquisition of Gable Steveson in 2021, WWE have added another Olympic gold medallist to their ranks.

As first reported by ESPN, WWE have signed amateur wrestling standout Tamyra Mensah-Stock to a deal. Mensah-Stock won the gold in the 68kg category at the 2021 games in Tokyo.

In doing so, she became the first Black woman to win gold in freestyle wrestling. She followed that up by winning gold at the 2022 world championships in Serbia.

The 30-year-old reported to the WWE Performance Center on Monday. It was noted that her goal was to make it to the main roster within one year.

Mensah-Stock has made a handful of appearances for WWE in the past, including alongside Steveson at SummerSlam 2021.

Discussing her decision to sign with the sports entertainment juggernaut (rather than pursue MMA) with ESPN, she said it was, "Something in the back of my head that's just been itching at me, a dream of mine for I don't know how long. I just wanted to be in the WWE".
