WWE SmackDown Currently Planned To Stay On Friday Nights Following Move To USA Network

Future of WWE SmackDown revealed

WWE SmackDown might not be moving from its current Friday night slot.

SmackDown has aired on Friday nights since the show moved to FOX in the United States in October 2019, having previously aired on Tuesday nights on USA Network between 2016 and 2019. The show will be moving back to NBCUniversal's USA Network in October 2024 in a $1.4 billion deal over five years and the new deal will see WWE produce four prime-time specials per year on NBC.

Despite having history on Tuesday nights on USA, the current plan is for SmackDown to remain on Friday nights when the show moves to the network in October, according to Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer.

"I was told as of right now for USA Network, the plan is that SmackDown is on Friday (when it moves to USA in Oct). But of course if you evaluate everything, I don't see why they would do that, but that is the plan as of right now," Meltzer told POST Wrestling.

The future of Monday Night Raw is also currently up in the air. The show will air on Netflix from January 2025 around the world as part of a 10-year deal. WWE President Nick Khan stated the current plan is for Raw to remain on Mondays but that could change in the next year.
