WWE SmackDown Spoilers For August 28

With WWE holding double tapings of Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown this week in order to give talent and staff some time off before a tour of Mexico and South America, the company taped the August 28 edition of SmackDown following a live episode of Raw on August 24 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Friday's show will feature a Triple Threat to determine the number one contender for CM Punk's Undisputed WWE Championship and an interaction between Gunther and Danhausen.

• Kevin Owens opened SmackDown, only to be interrupted in quick succession by CM Punk, Gunther, and Finn Balor. This resulted in a Triple Threat number one contender's match being booked for the main event.
• The Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax & Lash Legend) def. Chelsea Green & Tiffany Stratton - Medics attempted to take Chelsea Green to the back during the match but she eventually returned to the ring.
• In a backstage segment, Gunther interrupted a meeting between SmackDown GM Nick Aldis and Danhausen.
• Giulia whipped Blake Monroe during an interview.
• Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes had a face-to-face segment where they were unable to touch, so Orton used the opportunity to insult Dusty Rhodes, Cody's mother, and Brandi Rhodes, calling her a "trash ass" wife.
• Tatum Paxley def. Michin
• Jacy Jayne def. Paige - Nikki Bella returned to attack Paige after the match.
• Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens vs. Gunther ended without a winner. - Finn Balor first had the match won after a Coup de Grace to Gunther but Sami Zayn headed to ringside and pulled the referee out of the ring. Kevin Owens then made a cover on Gunther but Sami Zayn took out the referee as the official was running down the ramp. This brought out CM Punk and he and Zayn brawled before Zayn grabbed the WWE Title belt, eventually laying out Punk and everybody else to end the show.

This coming Friday, WWE will tape the August 31 edition of Raw and the September 4 episode of SmackDown from Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. The company will resume live tapings with Sunday Night's Main Event on September 6.
