WWE SmackDown Wrestler Given A New Ring Name
A SmackDown superstar has a new name
Even with the change in regime and a different person at the head of the WWE Creative team, wrestlers are not immune to random ring name changes. The next victim to this is the former Humberto, who now looks to be going as just “Berto”.
As of yesterday, his profile on WWE.com is simply “Berto”, signaling an official name change for the SmackDown superstar.
Berto returned to the WWE main roster alongside his tag team partner and cousin Angel (who may be just “Gel” in a few weeks at this rate) to align with recently heel Santos Escobar, becoming the brand new version of the Legado Del Fantasma faction. Berto & Angel were recently back down in NXT after their run as “Los Lotharios” on the main roster didn’t find them much success.
There has been a gradual cutting down of Berto’s name over time in WWE, as he used to be known as Humberto Carillo, before this was shortened to just Humberto, and now just Berto. Let's hope this trend doesn’t continue and he ends up as just “Bert”.
