A WWE star has defended the right of fans to boo whoever they wish as long as they don't cross a line.

There was controversy this week after a clip of Maxxine Dupri being booed at a WWE house show in Oakland, California on February 17 went viral, with one fan shouting "You suck Maxxine, don't come back" in the short video. A number of WWE talents, including Rhea Ripley, Zelina Vega, Chelsea Green, Ivy Nile, Becky Lynch, and Raquel Rodriguez, rushed to support Dupri after the boos, with Ripley even telling fans to "be better as humans."

Whether fans should have booed Dupri or not has split opinion but one undisclosed wrestler within WWE has a very different opinion on the matter to their WWE colleagues. The unnamed wrestler told Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter the video put more of a focus on Maxxine wrestling at WWE house shows without being ready for such a spot. Dupri has only had 10 matches in her entire career outside of Battle Royals.

The unnamed WWE star also stated that "fans should have the right to cheer and boo who they want to cheer and boo, and chant as long as you don't cross a line into being tasteless."

How WWE will approach Maxxine Dupri's house show bookings going forward is unknown. The 26-year-old is part of Alpha Academy with Chad Gable, Otis, and Akira Tozawa.
