WWE To Hold Latest Tryout This Week

A major athletic prep academy is set to be the site of WWE's latest tryout.

WWE is set to hold its latest tryout this week, a two-day event at a top athletic prep academy, according to Sports Illustrated.

The IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida will play host to the tryout - a major facility which accommodates and trains prospects in various sports, including tennis, basketball, soccer, baseball and American football.

WWE head of talent operations and strategy James Kimball told Sports Illustrated:

“There are countless examples of top talent that came into the business via college sports, but there hasn’t always been a system built out [...] That’s what we’re trying to create here, a true talent development pathway into WWE for college athletes. [...] For wrestlers on the independents, that system is in place and that pathway to WWE is well known, so our resources are allocated to building a new pathway to collegiate sports.”

The tryout is said to include 30 to 35 potential WWE recruits. Following the two-day event, WWE's next large-scale tryout will take place in Lagos, Nigeria, as part of the company's 'Search for Africa's Next WWE Superstar' campaign.
