AEW TNT Championship To Be Defended Weekly, First Challenger Revealed

The open challenge is back...

At the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view, Cody defeated Lance Archer after hitting three Crossroads on The Murderhawk Monster to win the inaugural TNT Championship. All Elite Wrestling has reiterated the belt will be ranked alongside the AEW World title and treated as an equal, similar to the IWGP Intercontinental Championship in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Cody provided the first details on how the title will be defended on last night's episode of Dynamite. He recalled the hard work he put in to ensure he won the championship and now he will continue to work hard as the TNT title will be defended each and every week in an open challenge.

The American Nightmare didn't have to wait long to find out who his first opponent will be as AEW's competitors faced off in a battle royal to determine the number one contender. The match came down to Jungle Boy, Orange Cassidy, MJF, and Wardlow. The two babyfaces were able to quickly overcome The Salt Of The Earth and his muscle, leaving Cassidy and Jungle Jack to fight it out one on one.

After a brief back and forth brawl, Jungle Boy picked up the win with a Hurricanrana over the top rope. The Jurassic Express member and Cody will clash on next week's episode of Dynamite.
