Are WWE Planning To Resurrect Old Matt Hardy Gimmick After Injury To Jeff?

Big Money Matt on SmackDown Live?!

Last week's SmackDown Live saw the unfortunate announcement that Matt and Jeff Hardy are being forced to relinquish the SD Live tag team titles due to a leg injury suffered by Jeff.

Jeff has undergone successful knee surgery and expects to be out of action for 6-9 months.

Shane McMahon will be announcing new SmackDown tag champs on this week's show.

With Jeff out of action, and Matt not listed in the contenders to be crowned champions by The Best In The World on Tuesday - Ali & Finn Balor and Shane & Elias are listed as teams who could be, by the way - attentions have turned to what WWE could be doing with the former Woken one while his brother is out.

Bryan Alvarez appears to have learned there is talk in WWE at the moment about bringing back Big Money Matt - a gimmick Hardy used during his time in Ring Of Honor and IMPACT Wrestling. Here's what Alvarez had to say on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio: "Matt Hardy… we’ll see what happens. I’ve heard talk that perhaps Matt will bring back Big Money Matt in the meantime. We shall see what they end up doing."

Interestingly, Hardy released a YouTube video back in March titled "Reintroducing Big Money Matt." Could this be a hint at the gimmick making a move to WWE?
