Backstage News On Buddy Matthews Re-Signing With AEW

More on Buddy Matthews re-signing with AEW

Recent reports suggested that Buddy Matthews has signed a new deal with All Elite Wrestling, with the House of Black member believed to have re-upped with the company after initially signing with them in 2022.

Further reports have shed some more light on Matthews’ situation, with PWInsider indicating that Buddy actually re-signed with AEW back in February 2024, although the length of Matthews’ new deal is unknown at the time of writing.

A report from Fightful Select states that it has not been revealed whether Matthews has signed a new deal outright, or if AEW have potentially exercised option years on Buddy’s deal, but whatever the situation it’s believed a decision would have been made a while back.

Matthews is currently absent from AEW TV, having been written off TV so he could travel home to Australia in order to marry long-time fiancée Rhea Ripley. There is no word on when Matthews is expected back on AEW TV, with his House of Black partners Malakai Black and Brody King currently wrestling as the Kings of the Black Throne in AEW’s tag division.
