Carmelo Hayes Wins WWE NXT Title At Stand & Deliver

Carmelo Hayes is the NXT Champion

WWE NXT has a new top star.

NXT's Stand & Deliver premium live event in Los Angeles, California on Saturday, April 1 was main evented by the NXT Championship match between Bron Breakker and Carmelo Hayes.

Breakker looked to have picked up the win down the stretch after applying the Steiner Recliner. Hayes even tapped out but the referee was down following a bump earlier in the match and Trick Williams took advantage of the situation, hitting Breakker from behind with the NXT Title belt. Breakker kicked out immediately following the move but Hayes followed up with a Codebreaker and his Split Leg Drop finisher to score the 1-2-3.

Despite the interference, Breakker paid respect to Hayes after the match, handing Carmelo the NXT Title and raising his arm.

With the loss, Breakker's reign as NXT Champion ends after 362 days. The Big Bad Booty Nephew had been in his second reign as champion, having regained the belt from Dolph Ziggler on the Raw after WrestleMania 38.
