Chris Hemsworth Set To Play Hulk Hogan In Netflix Biopic

Are the 24-inch pythons strong enough to lift the Mjolnir hammer?

Australian actor Chris Hemsworth may be best known for playing Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe run of films, but he's now getting set to play a blonde-haired powerhouse of a different sort, per a story from The Hollywood Reporter.

Hemsworth is slated to play Hulk Hogan in a biopic directed by Todd Phillips, who is primarily known for comedies such as The Hangover trilogy, as well as Old School and Road Trip. Phillips is also director of the forthcoming Joker movie, starring Joaquin Phoenix, slated for an October release.

The project is said to be "in the midst" of closing a deal with Netflix.

It is being produced by Hemsworth and Phillips themselves, along with actor Bradley Cooper, veteran film producer Michael Sugar, and longtime Hogan friend Eric Bischoff also acting as producers. Hogan himself will be serving as consultant.

The early word is that the movie will be more of an "origin" story, exploring Hogan's rise into pop culture Academia, instead of focusing on later legal and image issues.
