Chris Sabin Vs. Alex Shelley Set For July 21 IMPACT Wrestling

The Motor City Machine Guns explode

IMPACT Wrestling have announced a huge match for the July 21 edition of IMPACT, as The Motor City Machine Guns Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are set to face off in singles action.

The long-time tag partners are set to compete against each other in singles competition for the first time since 2009, with the winner set to face IMPACT World Champion Josh Alexander at IMPACT Emergence on August 12.

The pair teamed with Alexander to fend off Violent By Design on the July 14 edition of IMPACT, with Sabin informing IMPACT EVP Scott D’Amore that he was hungry for the World Title, with D’Amore saying Shelley was as well, before sanctioning the match.

Sabin and Shelley have only ever fought each other in televised singles matches on six previous occasions, with Sabin winning four, one match a no-contest, and with one win for Shelley - their last bout, for the then vacant X Division Championship at Genesis 2009.

First teaming together in 2006, The Motor City Machine Guns have been off-and-on for the past 16 years, and in their time have won the TNA/IMPACT World Tag Team Championships twice, as well as one run with the ROH World Tag Team Championships, and the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships in NJPW.
