Drew McIntyre Being Advertised for Universal Championship Matches On January WWE Live Events

McIntyre will be wrestling for the Title

Drew McIntyre is being advertised for Universal Championship matches across WWE live events next month, in a further indication of the company's plans for the main-event scene going forward.

McIntyre, per PWInsider, is being billed to face the winner of the Universal Title match between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar at WWE Day 1 in Boston, Salt Lake City, Fargo and Boise in early January in bouts for the Championship.

Previous reports have indicated that McIntyre is being built up as the next major challenger to the Universal Title on Friday Night SmackDown and will be set to face the Champion at the 2022 Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

It is widely anticipated that Roman Reigns will retain the Title against Lesnar at Day 1 and will then move on to face McIntyre on the Road To WrestleMania.

McIntyre's involvement in the Universal Title picture on upcoming Live Event cards is one of a host of big matches advertised by WWE for upcoming shows.

The cards will also see a rematch of the Fatal 4 Way bout for the WWE Title at Day 1 as Big E, Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens do battle again, while triple threat matches for both the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championships have also been advertised.
