Grizzled Young Veterans Lose Their First Names On WWE NXT

No more Zack Gibson and James Drake on NXT

Only days after Austin Theory's in-ring name was shortened, two NXT talents have lost their forenames.

Grizzled Young Veterans were in action on Tuesday's edition of NXT from the WWE Performance Center and James Drake and Zack Gibson were instead simply referred to as Drake and Gibson on the show.

Their shorter names did nothing to improve GYV's recent record on NXT, though, and they were defeated by Legado Del Fantasma on Tuesday's episode.

Drake and Gibson are just the latest talents to undergo a name change following a Vince McMahon memo and several wrestlers have been renamed.

Pete Dunne is now known as Butch, while Marcel Barthel and WALTER have been renamed Ludwig Kaiser and Gunther. Raquel Gonzalez's surname was also changed to Rodriguez, while Kay Lee Ray has been renamed Alba Fyre. Kacey Catanzaro's in-ring moniker was switched to Katana Chance as well and Raul Mendoza is now called Cruz Del Toro.

GYV have been teaming together in WWE since 2018 and they have been regulars on NXT since November 2020.
