Heath Slater Was Offered WWE Return At Half His Original Pay

Heath Slater has revealed WWE offered him a contract to come back to the company, but only on a deal that paid half of what he was previously earning.

Slater was released by the promotion in April 2020 as a part of WWE's cutbacks as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, but would return to the company for one night in July as part of Drew McIntyre's storyline with Dolph Ziggler over the WWE Championship. 

The former Smackdown Tag Team champion has said WWE offered him the chance to sign a contract with them once again the night he confronted McIntyre, but were only offering 50 per cent of the salary he used to earn with the promotion.

Despite the offer, Slater was ready to have some time away from WWE. 

Speaking with The Angle Podcast, he said: "They offered me one back, but it was like half of what I was making. I was like, 'Nah, I need to find myself and do other things and just chill. Just breathe and relax and spend time with the family. Just chill.' 

"I never burned any bridges up there, they all know me. I still talk to more than half the people [in WWE]. I was there for so long and we were friends. It's no hard feelings. I told them, 'I just want to go and do my thing for a little bit.' They were like, 'We don't blame you, you get it.' That was it."
