IYO SKY Announced For Marigold Summer Destiny

WWE's relationship with Rossy Ogawa's Marigold promotion has expanded.

It was announced at today's Marigold show from Korakuen Hall that WWE's IYO SKY will face Utami Hayashishita at the promotion's Summer Destiny show from Ryogoku Sumo Hall on July 13. 

The match was set up after Hayashishita defeated Nanae Takahashi in the main event of Marigold's show, with Marigold owner Rossy Ogawa heading to the ring post-match to reveal he had found Hayashishita an opponent at Summer Destiny. IYO SKY then appeared on the titantron for a short promo. 

July 13 will be IYO SKY's first match in Japan since 2018. SKY was previously one of the top stars in STARDOM as Io Shirai and she is a two-time World of STARDOM Champion. 

WWE and Marigold have informally worked together since the Japanese promotion was founded earlier this year and Marigold's Giulia will start wrestling for WWE later this year. Plans were reportedly in place for Giulia to face Roxanne Perez at Heatwave in early July, although that match is up in the air after Giulia suffered a fractured wrist and underwent surgery.

As of the time of writing, however, Giulia is still scheduled to face Sareee in the other featured match at Marigold Summer Destiny.
