John Cena Scheduled For Final WWE SmackDown Of 2022

The year ends with a big return

John Cena's next WWE appearance is set for the end of 2022, according to a story from Variety, which was later confirmed by WWE themselves.

The story reads, "Variety has learned exclusively that the iconic professional wrestler and actor is set to appear on the final “SmackDown Live” of the year on Dec. 30, which will take place at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, more announcements are planned for the episode in the coming weeks."

There is no word on what Cena will be doing on the SmackDown broadcast. His most recent bout was a dark match at a Smackdown taping in September 2021.

The SmackDown spot marks Cena's second appearance with WWE in 2022. He previously celebrated the 20 year anniversary of his WWE debut on the June 27 edition of Raw. In that appearance, Cena noted that he's not done wrestling.

While nothing is confirmed about Cena's WWE future beyond this appearance, it was recently reported that Logan Paul requested a match with Cena at WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles.
