Kairi Sane's WWE Deal Reportedly Expires In February

An update on Kairi Sane

While it was initially believed Kairi Sane's WWE contract had expired, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter today that the former NXT Women's Champion remains under contract with the company until February. Sane has publicly given the impression she won't re-signing with the promotion.

Meltzer previously noted that WWE wanted to extend Sane's deal and have her wrestle in the United States but The Pirate Princess did not want to return to the country.

Sane removed WWE references from her social media handles in December, simply describing herself as a 'Former WWE Superstar.' The 33-year-old also recently announced she was opening her own 24-hour gym in Japan.

Sane signed with WWE back in 2017 and won the Mae Young Classic, NXT Women's Title and Women's Tag Team Championship during her time as an active performer. She retired as a WWE Superstar in 2020 and returned to Japan but remained with the company as an ambassador. She also did commentary for the 2021 Hell In A Cell pay-per-view.

If Sane will return to the ring following her expected WWE departure remains to be seen but World Wonder Ring Stardom are reportedly interested in bringing back the former Kairi Hojo.
