Kenny Omega Still Hurting After NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 & AEW Ladder Match

Kenny Omega a little banged up after AEW ladder match and NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17

January has certainly been a month to remember for Kenny Omega, from winning the IWGP US Championship after a match of the year contender with Will Ospreay at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17, to regaining the AEW World Trios Championships during a brutal Ladder Match with The Young Bucks against Death Triangle on the January 11 edition of AEW Dynamite.

Since winning the Trios Titles, Omega has been conspicuous by his absence across AEW and NJPW, and during an interview with ComicBook.com, ‘The Best Bout Machine’ revealed he is still feeling the effects of wrestling two highly intensive matches in the space of a week:

"I would say before the Best of Seven series and the Tokyo Dome I was feeling pretty good. And after completing the Best of Seven Series, which culminated in a Ladder Match, and barely being removed from the match that I did with Will Ospreay at Wrestle Kingdom, it was kind of a slap in the face from reality being like, 'Hey, don't go thinking you're 100% again. We just let you think that for a couple of weeks (laughs). This is your new 100% so get used to it, kid.' That was the crashing back down to reality moment for me. Like, okay, I did it. I survived. I'm really proud of this work, but oh boy, it's going to take a while to recover. It wasn't like a 'give me a 24-hour' kind of thing. It's been over a week and I'm still feeling it,” said Omega.

Omega missed a large chunk of 2022 to undergo surgery and rehab several injuries. He is currently off TV due to visa issues.
