Lio Rush Provides Injury Update Following NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17

Lio Rush is mostly okay following NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17

Lio Rush has managed to avoid a long-term injury at Wrestle Kingdom 17.

The Man of the Hour suffered a nasty cut above his eyebrow which left the right side of his face covered in blood during New Japan Pro-Wrestling's biggest show of the year. Rush received stitches following the show and he has since noted on Twitter that he didn't suffer any broken facial bones. The 28-year-old will miss Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's Battle of Los Angeles tournament due to his injuries, though.

"Nasty spill last night on the ramp left me with a few stitches and a massive headache. No broken facial bones. Thank you to the #NJPW staff for taking care of me. I'll be good. Unfortunately BOLA is out the question. See ya in a few weeks," Rush tweeted.

It was noted during New Year Dash!! that Rush sustained a broken nose at Wrestle Kingdom which caused him to be pulled from the post-WK show.

Rush was set to take on Dragon Gate's SB KENTo in the first round of Battle of Los Angeles. The tournament will be held on January 7 and January 8 at Los Angeles' Globe Theater.

Rush was in action at Wrestle Kingdom 17 alongside YOH as they unsuccessfully challenged Francesco Akira and TJP for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships. When Rush will return to New Japan is unknown. In Rush's absence, YOH is set to challenge Hiromu Takahashi for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title after pinning the champion at New Year Dash!!.
