Mick Foley: Why Randy Orton Match At WWE Backlash 2004 Is My Favourite Ever

A brutal No Holds Barred Encounter

Mick Foley has named his No Holds Barred Match with Randy Orton at WWE Backlash 2004 as his favourite match ever.

Foley has competed in his fair share of bloodbaths and violent bouts but the WWE Hall Of Famer and a then-24-year-old Orton tore the house down over the Intercontinental Championship in April 2004, marking the Hardcore Legend's return to singles action.

Foley had teamed with The Rock to take on Orton and Evolution at WrestleMania 20 and, having not felt he gave the best account of himself at the Showcase Of The Immortals, is delighted with how the Orton Hardcore Match went.

Speaking during an appearance on Excuse Me: The Vickie Guerrero Show, Foley said: "“Coming back after four years of not having a single match and teaming up with The Rock the month before, at WrestleMania, it just didn’t feel like I took my best swings.

"And like, there’s nothing wrong with failing as long as you give it your best shot. And I did not feel like I gave it my best shot at WrestleMania [in] 2004.

"So I came back a month later and took my swings and I’ll dare say I connected. So that was my favourite match because not only was it, I thought, a great match but one that meant a lot to me on a personal basis."
