MJF Explains Why He Chose AEW Over WWE

The biggest match of his career is just hours away...

More than a year ago, at the age of 23, the brash and merciless Maxwell Jacob Friedman signed a full-time deal with All Elite Wrestling. MJF had broken out on account of his stellar mic work, with many believing him to be the industry's next big main event heel.

On the cusp of his AEW World title shot against Jon Moxley at All Out, MJF spoke with Inside the Ropes, and explained why he chose to sign with the company, instead of possibly going to WWE.

“Everybody was making a bid for MJF at that time, that’s not hyperbole, that’s the genuine truth," he stated. "When people found out my MLW contract was coming up, I was getting contacted by everybody.

"Deep down, I wanted to be part of something new and something fresh and something where I’d be able to control everything going on with me, because I knew if I went to the other place, and this isn’t me s**tting on the other place, it’s just a fact, they would try to change me, and there is nothing to change.”
