MJF Will Defend AEW International Championship In CMLL

MJF is defending his new title in CMLL

On Wednesday’s July 17 episode of AEW Dynamite, MJF defeated Will Ospreay after 59 minutes and 59 seconds to become the new AEW International Champion. What may very well be his first title defence will be taking place in two weeks on August 2 in Arena Mexico.

In a vignette which aired during CMLL’s Friday show, MJF was shown in an ice bath recovering from his war with Ospreay. Given that he is the new “International” champ, he revealed that he would be taking the title internationally and heading to Mexico to face, in his humble words, “those masked morons”.

It isn’t known who MJF will be facing as of yet, though he did recently take on CMLL’s Hechicero at the Forbidden Door 2024 PPV in a winning effort. There has been increased crossover between AEW/ROH and CMLL in recent months, with the likes of Bryan Danielson, Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, and others heading over to Mexico, and several from CMLL competing in AEW too. CMLL's Atlantis Jr. also recently defeated Kyle Fletcher to become the new ROH World Television Champion.
