News On Randy Orton And Big Show's Scheduled Match For WWE Raw

An unsanctioned match is set for Monday...

WWE veterans Randy Orton and The Big Show are set to square off in an "unsanctioned" match on Monday's episode of WWE Raw.

Given the stipulation, one would think that the match would make more sense as an attraction on "The Horror Show at Extreme Rules", taking place the previous day.

According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the reason for the match taking place on Raw is due to the decline in TV viewership for their flagship program.

Meltzer wrote, "That match isn’t going to add any network buyers, which is how you make money today off a PPV, but after this past week’s record low, Show vs. Orton should avert coming even close to another record low next week. At least they’d better hope for that, because it will be scary if they put that match on television and don’t get a significant improvement."

After falling to a rather low 1.687 million viewers for the July 6 episode of Raw, the show sunk to an all-time low of 1.561 million viewers for this past week's episode.
