Nick Aldis Reveals Why He Turned Down AEW

Nick Aldis had the chance to go to AEW

Nick Aldis has been the National Wrestling Alliance's top star in recent years but The National Treasure's career could have been different if he accepted an offer from AEW in 2019. The then-NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion ultimately opted to stay with the National Wrestling Alliance at the time, though, and he revealed why to Wrestling Inc

"Well, I thought that it was well known at this point that I had talked to [AEW CEO Tony Khan] very early on, and there's a lot more to it than people know. Essentially, I wanted to go, but I also wanted to wait until I had got the NWA to a point where I felt like they could function effectively. And by the time that came around, again, the relationship between Tony and Billy had changed. And I probably should have reached out sooner and had my own direct communication, instead of trusting what was being told to me about what was potentially coming up down the road. I'll just say that," Aldis said.

Aldis could still have a future in All Elite Wrestling as he will depart the NWA when his contract expires in January 2023. If AEW are interested in signing the 36-year-old is currently unknown, though.
