Powerhouse Hobbs Suffered 'Significant' Injury On AEW Dynamite

The former TNT Champion is set for a spell on the sidelines.

AEW star Powerhouse Hobbs suffered an injury during the April 24 edition of Dynamite.

Hobbs was challenging Jon Moxley for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship when he sustained what looked like a nasty injury to his knee. The match was truncated to accommodate this, with the 33-year-old looking to be in considerable pain as he attempted to walk on his bad leg. Hobbs lost the match via referee's decision when he was choked out by Moxley.

According to a new report by Fightful Select, the injury was, unfortunately, 'significant' in nature and Hobbs will not be back anytime soon.

Neither Hobbs nor AEW have commented on the injury thus far and it is unknown exactly how much ring time he will miss.

Earlier this year, the former TNT Champion was asked to comment on AEW owner Tony Khan's social media use during an interview with Adrian Hernandez of Sporting Tribune, to which he said:

"It's his company. He believes in us, and if you believe in something, speak your mind. If you're 100% sure on it, speak your mind. If you're 99% sure on it, don't speak on it. He's 100% sure and he's speaking his mind. He believes in his company and he believes in us".

The Monstar signed with AEW in September 2020.
