Report: AEW Changes Plans For Roster Split

Plans change, brother. 

Reports in recent weeks had noted that All Elite Wrestling will introduce a hard roster split when their new Saturday night show, Collision, debuts next month in order to separate CM Punk and talent who don't want to be in the same building as him. Punk is reportedly set to make his AEW return on the inaugural episode of Collision at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois on June 17. 

In an update on the roster split, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that current plans call for AEW to have "less of a hard roster split as previously told to people who do know about it." Plans have yet to be finalised and everything is being determined in real-time, but the current idea will see CM Punk be the star of Collision most of the time and he will make appearances on Dynamite when needed. If Punk is at Dynamite, talent he has issues with will be booked on Collision that week. 

AEW are trying to resolve the issues between CM Punk and large sections of the locker room but that has yet to happen and there has been no notable progress towards a reconciliation. 

Despite a roster split on the men's side of the locker room, there will be no hard split at all for the women's division as AEW don't believe the division has enough star power to keep certain talents exclusive to Collision or Dynamite. 

Talent primarily wrestling on Collision will also be largely absent from Rampage as the plan is for the Friday night show to be taped after live episodes of Dynamite on Wednesday, which is what the promotion currently does. Ring of Honor will be taped on Saturday nights along with Collision.
