Report: Cody Rhodes To WWE Currently "Eerily Silent"

The situation goes cold

While Cody Rhodes is believed to be WWE bound following his departure from All Elite Wrestling, with reports noting The American Nightmare will be returning to his former employer, the situation has recently gone silent.

Speaking on a Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp noted the Cody situation has gone "eerily silent" since last week.

"I haven't gotten confirmation that he's signed yet, or anything beyond that. It has been eerily silent since probably Friday or Saturday," he said.

WWE did tease Cody's arrival on this week's episode of Monday Night Raw, though, with 'dashing' and 'smoke and mirrors' both being mentioned, referring to Rhodes' past gimmick and his WWE theme music. The three-time TNT Champion is expected to receive a big push, at least at first, when he does resurface in the company.

Cody previously performed in WWE from 2006 until he was granted his release in 2016. He is a former two-time WWE Intercontinental Champion and six-time tag team champion, having held the belts with Hardcore Holly, Drew McIntyre, Ted DiBiase Jr., and his brother Goldust.
