Report: Meiko Satomura Planning To Retire

Meiko Satomura possibly retiring next year

A pro wrestling legend could be set to retire in 2025.

According to Tokyo Sports, Meiko Satomura has decided to retire from professional wrestling and she will likely leave her boots in the ring in Spring of 2025. Next year will be her 30th year in the industry, having debuted back in 1995.

Satomura is currently in Japan wrestling at WWE's house shows in the Land of the Rising Sun. She has been signed with the company since 2020 and she was one of the top stars in NXT UK, reigning as NXT UK Women's Champion for 451 days until Satomura lost the belt to Mandy Rose in an NXT Women's Title vs. NXT UK Women's Title unification match.

NXT UK was shuttered in 2022 soon after Satomura lost the title and she has since had a handful of matches on NXT TV, although she hasn't had a televised WWE match since a loss to Roxanne Perez in March 2023.

Satomura remains involved with Sendai Girls in Japan, the promotion she co-founded in 2009. She also made a cameo earlier this year in the Toden Train Match between Minoru Suzuki and Sanshiro Takagi.

Outside of WWE and Sendai Girls, Meiko Satomura has wrestled for the likes of WCW, STARDOM, Gaea Japan, DDT Pro, PROGRESS, and CHIKARA during her glittering career.
